CL underlying Iron Age hillfort Bone, id as Bos jaw, from outer enclosure ditch, primary fill, context 7014 (Trench V, 13511) at Maiden Castle, Dorset, England. Subm N Sharples 1986. Comment (lab): see refs below; (subm): this and others from this group, with human bones significantly earlier than the animal bones, support view that fresh animal remains were incorporated with earlier human burials before deliberate infilling; and see refs below.
